After four months…

It seems impossible that it has been four months since I arrived here. The time has flown and we are already looking at a brand new year ahead.  I had no idea what to expect upon my arrival to the historic and charming town of Žatec. The welcome I have received here makes me feel like I have gained a whole new family.  In the short time I have been here, I have learned, seen, and experienced an amazing number of culturally rich activities: from touring Žatec itself and learning about its rich history, to participating in Dočesná, exploring Prague’s Old Jewish Quarter, celebrating your Independence Day weekend, and travelling to Krakow.

As an English Teaching Assistant, I hope that you have learned a little more about American culture and of course, English! I appreciate your honesty and feedback when it comes to our lessons. I can only hope that you continue to develop your language skills as they will serve you well in a world that continues to become more connected than ever before.  I am continuing to practice my Czech as well!

Having the U.S. Ambassador and his staff visit the Business Academy in November was a surprise, and I personally appreciated the kindness and courtesy the entire school extended.  The student questions were intelligent and thought-provoking making for a highly interesting interchange. Providing the Ambassador and his staff a tour of the main square, was a point of pride for me as it made me feel that I belong here.

And that is thanks to all of you.

In speaking with my family back home in Port Jefferson, New York, I share with them stories of our lessons and activities (looking forward to the Christmas Academy, ice skating, and our future trips to England and Denmark!) and I tell them that I am already sad the time is flying by so quickly because I know I will miss all of you.

My experiences here will last me a lifetime.
